Choosing the Right Golf Ball for your Game

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Mark Pearson asked:

Golf Balls come in a range of compressions, multiple layer constructions and various dimple patterns. What does it mean and how do you choose the right ball for your game?

What most people do not know is that there is no maximum size of a golf ball, and no minimum weight. But if you have ever tried to hit an inflatable beach ball with a golf club you will know it does not travel very far! It could be possible to construct golf balls that could be made to fly much further than a ‘standard’ golf ball, by changing their weight, size or characteristic.

Therefore, all legal golf balls today are manufactured to certain specifications to make it fair for all golfers.

The weight of the ball must not be greater than 1.620 ounces (45.93 gm).

The diameter of the ball must not be less than 1.680 inches (42.67 mm).

Can a golf ball be hit further with a driver or an aluminum bat?

GoBux asked:

What goes further under perfect conditions (no wind, average humidity, 72° F). A golf ball hit by an aluminum bat or a 460cc driver. The golf ball would be hit off a tee of course when being hit by the club. The ball when hit by the bat would just be tossed up and hit, not pitched. What do you think?

Robert Riles asked:

Looking for something special to give your guests at your wedding? Or maybe its your company’s anniversary and you would like to give a gift that your clients and employees will cherish? Look no further, there are custom logo golf balls available which solve all your woes. Today in the age of getting personalized gifts, and these custom made balls will look suave and turn heads with their unique prints. For example, on Valentines day, a husband can gift his wife, who loves golf, a set of custom made golf balls with different love words or images on them. This would make their relationship better and be a perfect gift.

Similarly, corporates can use these custom logo facility to get their company’s logo on the balls while giving them out to all they are in contact with. Not only will their clients cherish it, they will also remember the thoughtful gesture on the company’s part and will come back to them for more business.

Choose from among the major brands available, such as Titleist, Wilson,Maxfli, Bridgestone or maybe Pinnacle, and get your logo printed on them.

If you have been using Maxfli golf balls for your games and are happy with its performance, you could pick out these soft balls and get logos on them. They not only go quite a distance but pack quite a punch under the hard exterior. It feels smooth using these balls in the games, and they work well on the green as well. In case you are looking for large orders, you will get a good discount as well, and can place orders for about 12 dozen or more with them. Give them the details of the logo you wish to have embossed on the balls, and sit back waiting for the box to be delivered to you. If you have placed orders on the website, and are a regular customer, it shouldn’t take more than a week, however it will take longer if you are first time customer with them.

Looking for double logo on the golf balls, be prepared to shell out a bit more for this task. You will also need to specify the area where the logo will be printed, it could be on top, or center, and so on. The size will also be determined by you, and if it is not possible, the manufacturer will direct you on what is the best alternative to go for. Custom logo balls are a rage amidst corporate executives, as they can take these balls out on the field and play showing off the company they are associated with. For some, it is a sort of status symbol having customized golf clubs or balls to play with. Be assured that the golf balls you ordered come fresh from the factory and are printed in clear colors.

Choosing a Golf Ball for Your Style of Golf

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Boris Tomson asked:

Choosing A Golf Ball For Your Style Of Golf

Make no mistake; playing golf with the wrong type of golf balls will negatively affect your game. You should play the best golf balls for your particular game otherwise you may be sacrificing accuracy and consistency for a few extra yards.

Is there a way to decide which is the best golf ball for your level of golf and your golf club swing speed? There is a way; you first need to comprehend the function of of each type of golf ball.

Many people ask about the diameter of a golf ball, the number of dimples on a golf ball, which materials are golf balls made from, or how much does a golf ball weigh? In this article, I will not be discussing these points, instead I want to concentrate on the essential factors that will guide you to choose the best golf ball for your game.Visit to : http://golfclub-review.blogspot.com

1-Piece Golf Balls

The one piece golf ball is made from a solid material and is normally used on the range as a practice ball and sometimes by beginners. Although it is very durable and inexpensive it doesn’t give you much distance.

2-Piece Golf Balls

Two piece golf balls have a solid core enclosed in a cover which is made of a cut proof material, making them very durable. They are the ones that are used by most casual golfers because they give you maximum distance. This is because of their firm feel and low spin rate that causes them to roll further on the fairway. The drawback is that they are not as controllable as a softer ball.

Three-Piece Balls

The 3-piece golf ball consists of a solid or liquid core encircled by a lining and enclosed by the outer cover. These are the preferred ball of many low handicappers that have the ability to take advantage of the higher spin rate and softer feel. These specifications make these balls more accurate for driving and they have more spin and control for the short game.

Four-Piece Balls

The latest advancement in golf ball technology is the 4-piece golf ball which is a good combination of a distance ball with spin and feel. These balls are more suited to the mid to low handicapper all the way to the professional golfer. They are designed for maximum distance of the tee, give you good spin off your mid-irons, and good control and feel around and on the greens; their biggest disadvantage being their high price.

Low Spin Rated Golf Balls

Low spin balls produce less spin which causes them to carry as far but when they hit the fairway they roll more to compensate. The higher handicapped golfer will appreciate that there is less side spin as these balls will have less tendency to hook or slice - resulting in straighter shots.

Mid Spin Golf Balls

Most golfers are quite happy with the mid spin rated golf balls. They give you a good blend of distance and feel resulting in more consistency and a decent length off the tee. The softness factor can differ a lot from brand to brand so you have to try different ones to get the ball that feels comfortable for you.http://golfclub-review.blogspot.com

High Spin Rated Golf Balls

As these balls spin the most they create more backspin which keeps the ball in the air the longest and so has the biggest carry. Although they won’t run far on the fairway, you get the benefit of great control around and on the greens as they have more feel.

Firm Feel Golf Balls

When you hit a firm-feel golf ball you will notice that they feel hard against the club face. Distance golf balls are generally firm feel; they give you the distance but lack the feel around the green. Mid to high handicappers normally go for these balls as they want more distance and are not worried to much by the lack of spin for their approach shots. They are also very hard-wearing and don’t scratch or mark easily.http://golfclub-review.blogspot.com

Custom Golf Balls to Spread Word About Your Company

Sunday, October 19th, 2008
golf ball
Robert Riles asked:

While putting up a stall at the trade show or exhibition for sports lovers, it would be fun to have custom golf balls on display. Golf lovers from across the country will be visiting and if they make note of your specially designed balls, they will take back memories of the same and appreciate these unique golf balls. Getting your company name or logo in a circular format on the ball is the best way, because then the name and the design will be clearly visible to all. If you got a square or any other shape, it would become difficult to fit in all the information and hard to read as well, since the text would get garbled and spread across the surface.

Most corporate brands use these golf balls to promote their business or increase sales for their company. Nike, Titleist, Maxfli, Callaway are some companies that manufacture golf balls. They are known for their brand value, and reputation in serving the best quality balls to golf players across the globe. They also create golf balls in the color, and style requested by the client. They do have a minimum order, or value to be adhered to, which is something you need to make note of .

These days, companies make a provision in their budget for promotional items and gifts, which is what these golf balls are. They go around spreading word about the company and helping build reputation for them. They are almost like brand ambassadors who travel the world and market the company at a low investment. If you have entered a new market, or are thinking about exploring other options, it would be ideal to get out these customized balls into the market, and distribute them amidst your clients and customers. Thereby, they will come to know of what is happening latest at your organization. This will bring in more business, new contracts and help you expand your business.

If your golfing partner’s birthday is coming up, or their company is going to celebrate an occasion, you could gift them these special balls. Another situation where they come in handy is when your company is sponsoring a golf tournament or event. Handing out free customized balls to all visitors or to the players, will definitely create a good name for you in the industry and help make some good contacts. The golf balls Tiger Woods uses is hard and solid, whereas some of the others could be made of a different material. So, if you were to take these factors into consideration while placing the order, you could benefit largely.

Just make sure to not compromise on the quality of the custom golf balls, else people will turn against you. Golf is a sport that is considered to be a gentleman’s sport, and so played in a very distinguished manner. The equipment and accessories used are high quality and on the expensive side, so make sure to give out the best there is to offer.

Breaking the Golf Ball Speed Barrier - is it That Important?

Sunday, October 12th, 2008
golf ball
Lavente Tan asked:

We all know that golf ball speed is an important aspect of golf ball distance. It does not take a physics wizard to realize the relationship between them. Driving distance, swing speeds, golf ball velocity, advanced technology, we all know them. They are all geared to get your golf ball an inch closer to the pin. What does that mean? Yes, a chance for you to lower your golf score.

While Tiger Woods have been pumping irons in the gym and Annika doing swing training to improve the power off the club face, they all know the importance of it. But as far as golf ball technology is concerned, it no longer is the same old thinking of harder compression for longer distance.

Truthfully speaking, Coefficient of Restitution or C.O.R of golf balls have been increasing and making golf balls more resilient and produce more distance than ever. Getting it hard and fast will add additional speed and distance but you still have to depend on your technique, the golf ball materials and such to produce a further distance.

If we were to take a closer look, the capability of golf balls to not just depend too much on speed  to deliver distance came some time back when the solid golf balls began to dominate.

Yes, it would be wonderful to see your tee shots zoom past others and go down at break necking speeds. I would love mine to do that too. Technology have made it such that lower swing speed players can deliver outstanding distances despite having lack of swing speed by playing with the factors like compression, resilient and hardness.

No matter how much technology can offer us, we still got to realize and salute the well drilled golfing machines that bring the speed out of the golf balls. They can generate and control the distance and level the playing field any time.

You maybe able to generate amazing distance but if you do not know how to control them, it would be pointless as the game goes. Experience will tell you that not every hole is played the same way. There are many different approaches that you can bring to make the game more lively.

Let us not just concentrate on golf ball speed. Technology have given us a chance to keep up with the pros but it is still the skills that we have in us and the fitness to out run the 18 holed race.
