What’s the deal with the two-colored golf balls?

They are half white and half some other color like pink or blue. Is there some purpose or benefit/advantage to them? Are they even legal in a professional game of golf or can you only play with a solid white ball?

The legalities but multicolored balls make for easier to tell which one is yours.

Usually they are used in practice rounds, so that players can differentiate between who hit what ball and where it landed. In professional and club play, only white balls are allowed…especially during tournaments.

I would say that it’s to help you better identify your ball. Generally females use different colored balls (pink, orange). I have heard that it’s not considered manly to use anything other than a white ball.

The are usually used during putting practice to show if the ball is struck correctly. The ball is placed so that it’s half-half is pointing up…like at 12. When the ball is struck, the opposing colors show if more momentum was placed on either side of the ball.
